14 Things Your Favorite Morning Drink Says About You

A recent survey by One Poll, commissioned by Califia Farms explored the personalities of coffee and tea drinkers. They polled 1,000 coffee drinkers and 1,000 matcha drinkers to see if their beverage choice hinted at anything deeper. The survey suggests coffee drinkers might be more introverted and creative.

Let’s explore what your favorite morning drink reveals about you.

The study uncovered a fascinating link between morning and drinks and sleep patterns. Match drinkers tend to be early risers. This might be due to the unique properties of matcha. Matcha has relatively less caffeine than coffee and delivers a sustained energy boost. This gentler rise in energy could be the secret weapon of early birds. Waking up 30 minutes earlier on average, matcha drinkers might feel more energized and motivated to seize the day.

Coffee: Night Owls

This study unveils an intriguing connection between coffee preference and sleep patterns. The findings suggest that coffee drinkers may be more inclined to be night owls. This could be because of the high caffeine content, which disrupts sleeping patterns compared to matcha’s gentle boost. Unlike matcha drinkers who wake up earlier due to a sustained release of energy. Coffee drinkers might struggle to fall asleep due to a stronger caffeine jolt.

Matcha: Adventure Seekers

A study by Califia Farms found matcha drinkers might be more adventurous. They surveyed 1,000 matcha drinkers and 1,000 coffee drinkers in the US. Interestingly, 26% of matcha drinkers preferred outdoor activities compared to coffee drinkers. Maybe it’s the unique taste of matcha that makes people open to new things, like trying new foods, traveling, or even just enjoying the outdoors.

Coffee: Homebodies

This study by Califia Farms looked at coffee and matcha drinkers in the US. They surveyed 1,000 people from each group. The results showed interesting differences. Coffee drinkers seemed to be more into staying cozy inside. 38% of them preferred indoor activities like watching movies at home. Coffee drinkers and matcha drinkers might have different energy levels. This could also influence how they choose to spend their free time.

Matcha: Ambiverts

The same study we mentioned earlier, which surveyed matcha and coffee drinkers in the US, also looked at personality types. Interestingly, a large portion, 46% of matcha drinkers, identified as ambiverts. Ambiverts like being social, but they also need time alone to relax. This is because they have a mix of introverted and extroverted tendencies. This could explain why they might enjoy both a social setting and a calming cup of matcha.

Coffee: Introverts

The study by OnePoll for Califia Farms surveyed 2,000 US adults, and they found that 42% of participants identified as introverts. Introverts typically gain energy from spending time alone and may prefer quieter environments. One study looked at coffee drinkers and introverts. Coffee drinkers were more likely to be introverted. This makes sense because coffee is often linked to enjoying quiet mornings or calmer social settings.

Matcha: Work Out In The Morning

Unveiling another interesting finding, the same study showed a trend among matcha drinkers. A surprising 42% said they prefer to squeeze in their workout routine in the morning. This could be due to matcha’s sustained energy boost, which might help them power through their exercise session.

Coffee: Work Out In the Afternoon

Exercise habits were also a part of the study. Among coffee drinkers, nearly 4 out of 10 (39%) prefer to wait until later in the day to get their workout in. This might suggest they rely on coffee’s later energy boost to fuel their exercise routine.

Matcha: Up to Date With Online Trends

The same study found a link between matcha and staying in the social loop. A whopping 62% of matcha drinkers reported keeping a close eye on social media trends and current events. People might be able to stay on top of a lot of trends because drinking matcha can give you energy. This could help them stay busy and involved with online activities all day long.

Coffee: Not Up to Date With Trends

The survey offered another interesting finding. Almost half, 47% of coffee drinkers, said they weren’t very active on social media or keeping up with the latest trends. This could suggest they prefer to disconnect and enjoy their coffee in peace, focusing less on the online world.

Matcha: Likely to be Fire or Water Signs

The survey unveiled a connection between matcha and astrology. 27% of matcha drinkers were revealed to be fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), known for their creativity and adventurous spirit. Another 28% were water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), which are the more emotional of the signs.

Coffee: Likely to be Earth or Air Signs

Coffee drinkers might have something in common besides caffeine. Air and Earth signs, like Gemini, and Virgo, seem to be bigger coffee drinkers than other zodiac signs. These signs are known for being curious, easygoing and dependable. Coffee drinkers might be adventurous, enjoying exploring new coffee options. This, along with the reliable energy boost, keeps them returning for their daily cup.

Matcha: Read More Books

From the drinkers polled, matcha drinkers were found to read 6 books more than coffee drinkers. This may be attributed to the unique properties of matcha. High-quality matcha boasts a high concentration of polyphenols, particularly EGCG, which is considered to be beneficial for brain function. Matcha is the richest dietary source of EGCG. Interestingly, matcha offers a calming focus due to its lower caffeine content compared to coffee.

Coffee: Read Less Books

Coffee might help you stay awake to read all night, but it could hurt how well you understand what you’re reading. People who don’t drink coffee read smoother (fewer stops and re-reads) and grasp more information at a glance. Although coffee is making you read faster, it seems this speed comes at the cost of understanding what you are reading. This is the reason why coffee lovers read fewer books than matcha lovers.
