Americans’ Views On Project 2025, According To A Survey

Project 2025 was created by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, and is nearly 900 pages long. The document calls for the sacking of thousands of civil servants, expanding the power of the president, eliminating the Department of Education, tax cuts, banning pornography, aggressive anti-abortion practices, cutting medicare funding, and more.

According to a YouGov survey, here is a list of America’s views on eleven key issues of Project 2025 and the project itself.

Awareness about Project 2025

20% of Americans have heard a lot about Project 2025, 39% have heard a little, and 42% have heard nothing at all. 35% of Democrats have heard a lot about the project, but only 7% of Republicans have heard about the project laying down plans for a potential Republican administration.

Like or dislike Project 2025

5% of Americans have a “Very favorable” opinion of Project 2025, compared to 32% who have a “Very unfavorable” opinion. 9% have a somewhat favorable opinion, and 7% have a somewhat unfavorable opinion. However, 48% of Americans said they “Don’t know” about the project.

64% of Democrats have a very or somewhat unfavorable opinion of the project while only 26% Republicans favor the project.

America’s views on key proposals of Project 2025

Outlawing Pornography

29% of Americans strongly support outlawing pornography, and 23% strongly oppose it. 13% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 19% somewhat oppose it, and 16% are not sure.

61% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 29% of Democrats.

Using active-duty members of the military to help with arrests along the U.S.-Mexico border

28% of Americans strongly support using active-duty members of the military to help with arrests along the U.S.-Mexico border, and 24% strongly oppose it. 13% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 24% somewhat oppose it, and 15% are not sure.

80% of Republicans strongly support this proposal as opposed to 27% of Democrats.

Eliminating federal funding for programs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

25% of Americans strongly support eliminating federal funding for programs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, while 35% strongly oppose it. 11% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 12% somewhat oppose it, and 17% are not sure.

73% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to only 8% of Democrats.

Banning transgender people from serving in the military

24% of Americans strongly support banning transgender people from serving in the military, while 36% strongly oppose it. 11% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 14% somewhat oppose it, and 15% are not sure.

65% of Republicans strongly support this proposal as opposed to 15% of Democrats.

Reducing federal spending on renewable energy research

17% of Americans strongly support reducing federal spending on renewable energy research, while 32% strongly oppose it. 17% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 21% somewhat oppose it, and 14% are not sure.

59% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 14% of Democrats.

Returning to a gold-backed currency

17% of Americans strongly support returning to a gold-backed currency, while 18% strongly oppose it. 21% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 8% somewhat oppose it, and 36% are not sure.

61% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 23% of Democrats.

Withdrawing federal approval for the abortion pill mifepristone

17% of Americans strongly support withdrawing federal approval for the abortion pill mifepristone, while 39% strongly oppose it. 8% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 12% somewhat oppose it, and 24% are not sure.

41% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 11% of Democrats.

51% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 7% of Democrats.

Removing legal protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity

14% of Americans strongly support removing legal protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, while 43% strongly oppose it. 10% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 16% somewhat oppose it, and 17% are not sure.

39% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to 14% of Democrats.

Abolishing the U.S. Federal Reserve

10% of Americans strongly support abolishing the U.S. Federal Reserve, while 37% strongly oppose it. 8% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, 15% somewhat oppose it, and 30% are not sure.

Only 14% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, while an even less number of Democrats support it, 3%.

Allowing presidents to fire civil service workers for any reasons

8% of Americans strongly support allowing presidents to fire civil service workers for any reason, while 45% strongly oppose it. 11% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, while 18% somewhat oppose it, and 18% are not sure.

16% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, as opposed to only 4% of Democrats.

Cutting funding for Medicare and Medicaid

Only 3% of Americans strongly support cutting funding for Medicare and Medicaid, while a whopping 70% strongly oppose it. 6% of Americans somewhat support the proposal, 13% somewhat oppose it, and 7% are not sure.

Only 7% of Republicans strongly support this proposal, while an even less number of Democrats support it 1%.
